Most micrometeorites measure approximately 0.2-0.4 mm, with giant and supergiant micrometeorites measuring in above 0.5 mm. At close to 1 mm, I’m delighted to report that NMM 2842 is the largest supergiant I’ve found to date!
This magnificent cryptocrystalline (CC) type stone features a large nickel-iron bead surrounded by a sulphide rim.
Collected during Micrometeorite Field Search #1063, this stone cosmic supergiant is fresh as a daisy!
Stay tuned on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to see more new micrometeorites!
Yours truly,
Jon Larsen
