After years of searching, Jon Larsen discovered the world's first urban micrometeorites. Unlike the old and eroded micrometeorites discovered in the Antarctic, Jon Larsen's micrometeorites are fresh and their amazing textures intact.
The exclusive coffee table book, ATLAS OF MICROMETEORITES, takes it all to a completely new level. Never before has it been possible to see stardust in such a large format with crisp details. The 500+ illustrations are made possible by a new photography technique developed especially for Project Stardust by the Jon Larsen and mineralogist Jan Braly Kihle. Their famous pictures have been featured by the many of world's biggest publications, including the New York Times, the Economist, and National Geographic and have been exhibited in art galleries and museums in New York and Berlin.
The Atlas of Micrometeorites is organized in chapters according to the classification of micrometeorites; from completely melted glass types, through the various crystalline types, to unmelted micrometeorites, including all transitional forms. The final chapters include information about rare types and pieces, such as fossil micrometeorites and the history of the study of micrometeorites.
